Two Arms, Two legs

 


'Two arms, two legs' is both and installation and the name of a group. The installation was our first real project.

'Two arms, two legs' is the first installation that I did together with Tatiana Lyng. It has been exhibited in Berlin at Kunstraum Bethania, Kreutzberg and later at the Danish festival for electronic art and music - RADAR in Copenhagen.

In the room there's a camera, a projection. There's marks on floor leading the public to walk in front of the camera. When standing in front of the camera, small visual fragments of your clothes, arms, legs and face are placed in the projection. When another person walks in after you this persons fragments melt into yours and together the public is creating a strange figure consisting of several persons fragments - a figure, that is always in motion, always changing.

Since the context of this installation was 'Art and Fashion' (Trendivion 04) this figure is meant to be a 'new standard' from where clothes and new fashions should be designed.

"Two arms, two legs" er interaktiv videoinstallation, som blev udstillet i Berlin, Kunstraum Bethania i Kreutzberg under Trendvision 2004, jan og senere på Radar (festival for elektronisk musik og kunst) i København. Trendvision er en årligt tilbagevendende udstilling, der fokuserer på grænsen imellem kunst og mode. Jeg lavede installationen i samarbejde med Tatiana Lyng, som jeg også tidligere har arbejdet med.

Installationen tager udgangspunkt i det faktum at mode-modellens volumen ændrer sig meget lidt i forhold til det tøj, man sætter på dem -på trods af at denne volumen opfattes som en slags standard. Den giver et bud på, hvordan et ægte billede, en mere sand standard kunne se ud. I dette tilfælde en "standard" fra Berlin. Samtidig gør installationen de besøgende opmærksomme på sig selv, deres højde, farver i forhold til andre og heri ligger et billede på vores egen flyden sammen med andre menneskers stil og image.
Rummet er forsynet med et kamera og markeringer på gulvet, der gør at man stiller sig hen til det. Idet man træder ind i det afmærkede felt begynder kameraet at tage udsnit af ens tøj og ansigt og indsætte dem i et fælles projekterede billede, en mosaik, hvor fragmenter af tidligere besøgende også er. Denne mosaik er derfor i konstant bevægelse.
